Terms of Service

Migo.chat is a social service that lets adults who share a public place — a library, a campus, a coworking space — join group chat rooms, create quick events and message each other. The service is provided free of charge and is currently in active development, so features may change.

You must be at least 18 years old to use Migo. We ask for your age once at sign-up and never show it to anyone. Creating an account while under 18, or on behalf of someone who is, is not permitted.

You sign up with your email address, confirm it with a one-time code and then set a password. Keep your password confidential — you are responsible for activity carried out through your account. Tell us immediately at contact@migo.chat if you believe someone else is using it. One person, one account; do not share or transfer your account.

You agree to follow our Community Guidelines. In particular, you must not harass, threaten or discriminate against others, post hate speech, spam, scams or illegal content, impersonate anyone, share other people's private information, post sexual content involving minors, or attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, scrape or overload the service.

You keep ownership of everything you post. You grant Migo a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce and display your content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the service. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies other members already received and backups we must retain briefly.

You are responsible for your content and confirm you have the right to post it.

Quick events are organised by members, not by Migo. We do not verify identities, do not supervise meetings and are not a party to them. Use common sense: meet in public areas, respect the venue, and leave any situation that feels wrong. You take part in events at your own risk.

Administrators may edit or remove groups, rooms, events and messages, and may restrict, suspend or block accounts that break these terms or our Community Guidelines. Where reasonable and lawful we will tell you why, and you may contest a decision by writing to us. You can stop using Migo and delete your account at any time.

We aim to keep Migo available but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may add, change or discontinue features. If we make a material change to these terms we will notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect; continuing to use Migo after that means you accept the new terms.

Migo is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including mandatory consumer protection rights in the European Union. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for the conduct of other members.

Our Privacy Policy explains what personal data we process and the rights you have under the GDPR. It forms part of these terms.

These terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer resident in the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of your country of residence and may bring proceedings there. EU consumers can also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform.
